German Pinschers - General Appearance

The medium-sized eyes are dark, and oval in shape. The symmetrical ears are set high. They are erect when cropped. Uncropped ears are V-shaped. The strong teeth meet in a scissors bite. The neck is elegant and strong. The body is compact with a rather short and close-coupled back. The chest is moderately wide. The close-lying coat is dense and smooth. Coat colors can be fawn, various shades of red and black and blue with red or tan markings.

They do make wonderful companion dogs that provide protection. It is important to note that they can also be very protective of their personal belongings, so, as their owner, you must set parameters to avoid any potential problems. Because of their ratting nature, the German Pinscher cannot be trusted to stay home. They instinctively chase everything that moves quickly, so a fence or leash system is required to keep them home. Overall, German Pinschers have a high intelligence level, well developed senses, an aptitude for training, and are fearless, with high endurance levels and resistance to illness.
